How-To: Topwater Bluefish on Hogy Surface Pencils

Dog days of summer? Never heard of it. When August rolls around, its common to hear that there isn’t much action going on inshore. However, bluefish can be found stacked up in the various rips of Vineyard Sound and make for exciting topwater action!

We were casting Hogy Charter Grade Surface Pencils in the rips at Hedgefence for bluefish keyed in on baby squid. These fish were staging right inside the rip and a properly placed cast was the ticket to enticing a strike. Bluefish are an aggressive, hard fighting and acrobatic fish. What else can you ask for in an inshore game fish?

Pink & White Hogy Surface Pencils are a perfect match for imitating squid.
