Rigging the Hogy Dancing Diamond Jig
It’s as simple as Capt. Mike puts it – when stripers are keyed in on sand eels but are being very finicky, the Hogy Dancing Diamond Jig is the go-to and is almost guaranteed to work every single time.
The diamond jig itself is very traditional but what makes this design unique is the super imitative, super flexible, super translucent, natural-looking sand eel teaser. When the teaser is dancing in the water column, the softbait has a natural and lifelike presentation that will surely draw a reaction strike when dropped down in front of a target on the fish finder.
But because of how fragile and delicate the softbaits are, they will need to be replaced often.
By following these simple and easy steps, you’ll be looking good as new in no time.
Ste p 1: Enter the hook through the dead center of the nose of the bait.
Step 2: Follow the hook through the nose, down maybe about an inch to an inch and a half and follow it up through the softbait and you’re good to go!
One thing to keep in mind, it’s OK if it’s not perfectly centered as long as it still has it’s lifelike movement that makes the Hogy Dancing Diamond Jig so effective.
