Hopefully, with this good weather window, a few more boats will get out and we will have some reports for you later on today.
The fishing around the Star, Dump, Gordon’s Gully, and Claw has been frustratingly slow lately. Most of the boats in the Big Game Battle were headed to the canyons; Hydrographer and Oceanographer have been holding both yellowfin and bigeye.
In late July, the Salty Cape crew joined Jamie Simmons of Buzzards Bay Outfitters to tackle white marlin and bluefin tuna on Hogy Bird Bars and Epoxy Jigs.
Folks fishing south of Nantucket have been enjoying some exciting action on white marlin; the typical approach if you aren’t trolling for them is to use pitch baits such as scup or live eels. Bluefin have been reported
The Dump, the Claw, Gordon’s Gully, and the Shipping Lanes were all spots that folks mentioned this week when talking about where they caught tuna, both yellowfin and bluefin. Most boats have been fishing a mix of smaller bird bars; multi-bird green machine rigs; skirted ballyhoo; and Harness Jigs.
