I have one successful trip under my belt, so here goes my top 3 plays for the weekend, if I were fishing. The upside to this early early time of year is that you don’t have to get up super early to beat the crowds and finicky fish, and the fish that have recently arrived are hungry and want to eat! Go get em!
I am very happy to report my first Cape Cod fishing trip with Capt. Shaun Ruge on Friday morning. Although the weather was very New England-y, we decided to suit up and head out for a quick pre-work trip, finding 26″ schoolies at the mouth of Waquoit Bay.
Martha’s Vineyard’s South Beach has been a paradise for surf anglers for over two weeks now. Fat, healthy stripers to 30 inches and dozens of osprey crashing into a strong herring run made for a memorable excursion on Sunday May 1st for Salty Cape’s Matt Rissell and MV local Joe Rogers.
Striper fishing is very good off the Race as they continue to feed on the abundance of sand eels in the area, reports Capt. Mike Hogan.
