Lucas is a premier location for large fluke and sea bass, and in the very deep holes (75 to almost 90 feet) between eastern side of the shoal and the shore of Martha’s Vineyard anglers fish chunk baits on the bottom or use heavy jigs for large stripers.

Best tide: Either tide (incoming or outgoing) fishes well; action will be slow at slack.
Hazards: Few. Large waves and confused, short chop can develop when a strong breeze is blowing in opposition to tide direction. Moderate boat traffic, heavier on weekends in the summer.
