Buzzards Bay offers a wide variety of fishing techniques and species. Fishing for big striped bass via boat or shore at the West End of the Canal, jigging for sea bass off Cleveland Ledge and targeting smaller striped bass with light tackle and fly fishing gear in the many estuaries and rivers are the most popular ways to fish this area.

Despite the windy weather on Memorial Day weekend, the opportunities for keeper striped bass on light tackle and the fly were abundant. Here are a few highlights from a recent trip with Buzzards Bay Outfitters in the estuaries of the south coast of Massachusetts.

Jeff Fortin landed a 64-pound striper in Buzzards Bay on the morning of Tuesday May 16, 2017. The Salty Cape crew was fortunate enough to be at the weigh-in for what ended up being the biggest striped bass we've ever seen in person.
