Capt. Dave Peros and Capt. Mike Hogan fished the West End of the Canal Wednesday morning, tossing topwater soft plastics into the boulder fields and grassy eel bed flats that dot the area. Capt. Mike spent most of the morning catching aggressive topwater fish to 26″ on brighter colors like pink and bone, but according to other anglers in the area, bigger fish were more common around dawn. Fish were active even during slack tide. As long as you could find birds working the surface, you could usually wait a few seconds and see a striper swirl below them. Exciting way to fish.
