Reader Report: Wasque Stripers – June 24-27, 2016

Salty Cape contributor Chris Junda has continued to find decent stripers hanging in the rips of Wasque, casting 7″ Hogys in amber to topwater fish that have ranged anywhere from 24″ – 32″.

“Search the rips and shoals for bass feeding on small squid and sand eels. The fish will move from the rips and up unto the flats and back during morning. I change the presentation from unweighted to weighted accordingly,” suggests Chris. “It is primarily a top water bite with the bass following the bait and smashing it on or near the surface. The fish are small, mainly 24-26,” with an occasional keeper here and there. A really fun top water bite with light tackle.”
