Kurt Freund set in a recap of a few days of fishing in Nantucket Sound earlier this week, including some big black sea bass and excellent bluefish action at Horseshoe Shoal.
“We tried out the perfect squids this week. The bluefish certainly think they’re perfect. This week, we have continued to find a few fluke, most of them small, and lots of black sea bass, some of them very big. We have fished both in Vineyard Sound and out at Horseshoe Shoal. There have been fewer striped bass this week, but good numbers of bluefish. Horseshoe has some alligator bluefish right now. The first fish hooked by Tuesday’s group, Jay Hedlund and family, was a keeper-size sea bass. It would have been about 16”, but after the bluefish was done with it, it was about 7” long. I’m attaching photos from that trip, including a couple of 22” bsb, each about 5 lb. and a bluefish that was all of 12 lb, along with one of a bluefish with the perfect squid that it ate.”
