Reader Report: Horseshoe Bluefish – July 5, 2015

I had the chance to get two of my nephews out for some fishing this past Sunday. We had a relatively short window of time so I decided to head out to Horseshoe Shoal. Anglers sometimes forget what a great fishery we have on the south side of the Cape, less than 6 miles from the Cotuit & Osterville cuts. We arrived at slack tide with birds and a few stray blues picked up on the troll. Once the tide got moving we got into some great action with some doubles, both trolling orange squid lures with lead core line and top water plugs on spin gear. The fleet of boats was mostly on the west side by the Red “2” buoy.
