Outer Cape Fishing Report – September 8, 2016

Paul Newmier reported that Connie, who works in his shop, took a nice walk along the beaches up around Nauset and Coast Guard Beach and said she didn’t see a single boat. That’s not surprising to Paul who suspects it won’t be until the weekend when the rollers settle enough for at least the larger recreational craft and charterboats to make the treacherous run out of Chatham Inlet in search of the schools of bass that were providing good vertical jigging action in about 60 to 70-feet of water.

From the beach, Paul spoke to an angler today who ran into some very good action on big bluefish up around North Beach, while things have been quieter from Herring Cove to Race Point. Some schools of blues have been reported off the Wellfleet backside beaches, but bass have been tough to come by.

Overall, Paul was happy that the beaches are pretty clean, with no mung to speak of and very little in the way of “muddy” water.
