Outer Cape Fishing Report – September 13, 2018

Some bluefish have showed up around Provincetown according to Andy Little at The Powderhorn in Hyannis; generally, boat anglers have been catching them either vertical jigging or on topwater plugs, but they have occasionally pushed in tight enough from Herring Cove to Race Point to give shore anglers a shot at reaching them.

Small bass continue to dominate the backside fishing, but any word of where things are happening and if anything larger has been caught is hard to come by due to the lack of fishermen, lamented Paul Newmier at Blackbeard’s in Eastham.

Pleasant Bay and the other estuaries nearby continue to hold small stripers as well, but there are some larger fish feeding on crabs and sand eels around Morris Island, as well as the flats and channels just outside Stage Harbor.
