Outer Cape Fishing Report – May 26, 2016

Other than the bass that are being caught up off of Provincetown, there isn’t to report for the boat crew. Shore fishermen, especially up around Truro and Wellfleet, have been picking at some small bass off the backside using swimming plugs fronted by teasers to match the sand eels that are providing most of the forage.

The bayside beaches have been giving up some larger bass, especially around Sunken Meadow. Many folks do well here fishing fresh mackerel on the bottom, but casting pencil poppers at first light and swimmers such as Daiwa SP Minnows after dark is also productive. This is also a good beach for bluefish action, but there have not been any blues reported yet in Cape Cod Bay.
