Outer Cape Fishing Report – June 8, 2017

Pretty much everyone with a boat is hightailing it for the bass bite from Truro up and around to Race Point. Reports have been bandied about of people picking up 50 to 70 bass, most between 34 and 45-inches, either livelining mackerel or vertical jigging.

Pleasant Bay is still fishing well, mainly due to the cooler-than-usual water that has kept the bass happy in many of the shallow areas that they typically would have moved from into deeper water; shore anglers have found plenty of willing schoolies in the bay as well as around spots such as Morris Island and inside Outermost Harbor. Incoming water is your best bet for larger fish, especially in areas that harbor crabs and baby flounder, in addition to sand eels.
