Other than an occasional push of bluefish around Coast Guard or Nauset Light Beach in Eastham, the backside beaches continue to be very quiet. The blues have also made an appearance or two up around Race Point, but if you’re not there on that one tide, the odds are that you will find a ghost town instead.
There has been a small gaggle of boats working outside Nauset Inlet, especially on commercial days, but given the poundage that is being dropped off, the fishing has been really tough. Some boats have turned to live eels, but others continue to bounce sand eels or vertical jig in hopes that they will be the one to find the mother lode.
Some mackerel continue to be found off of Provincetown and along the backside and the charter boats that are on the water everyday and can keep tabs on the movement of the bass and bait have been doing OK live-lining with some vertical jigging mixed in.
