Nantucket Fishing Report – May 18, 2017

Capt. Matt Reinemo was busy getting his shop, Nantucket Tackle Center, up and running, as folks have been in-and-out buying tackle as the fishing has been quite good on the island. There have been schoolies caught since late April, pretty much all around the island; Madaket has been fishing well and Matt knows that a buddy picked up some bass around Polpis. The airport area typically is a good bet when it comes to finding early season bass, with bone Hogy’s a hot item on the island, as well as old favorites such as the pearl Bomber and the newer style Finnish style minnow from Daiwa, the SP Minnow. Topwater plugs are also effective along the southside beaches when targeting bass and blues, with the latter just starting to show.
