Grace Canfield from Nantucket Tackle Center reported that the island has plenty of bait, from sand eels all along the north shore to squid and sand eels along the southside. There are bluefish being caught by shore anglers from Madaquecham to Sankaty, with an occasional bass, including some legal fish, in the mix as well. Plugs have been producing, including pearl Bombers and topwater offerings. There are smaller bass up inside the harbor as well.

There are plenty of bluefish in the rips to the south and west of the island, including Old Man Shoal and Miacomet; Grace noted that they had a bluefish tournament on Father’s Day and the winning fish was 18-pounds and was caught by a 16-year old angler.
