The folks at Nantucket Tackle Center said the island is surrounded by bluefish, with shore anglers really happy around Tom Nevers, Dionis, the airport, and other spots along the southside. These are big fish and they are a lot of fun on plugs. Boaters are finding them at the Old Man and other shoals, as well as up around Great Point. Apparently, there is a great deal of squid and pretty much everyone knows that bluefish love their calamari. The fluke and sea bass fishing is still going strong east of Sankaty, but stripers have been few and far between. There are a few bonito being caught, but there is no reason yet to get revved up and head straight for the Bonito Bar.
