Nantucket Fishing Report – July 21, 2016

The bass action around the island has slowed a bit, although there are still some being caught on the flats around Tuckernuck and along the northside. On the other hand, the big bluefish are still think off Sankaty and the southside rips, many of them well into the double digits. Like the Vineyard, there is a dedicated group of shore anglers who look forward to targeting big brown sharks from the beach, and they are hitting bluefish fillets and fresh dead eels. The fluke and sea bass bite remains very good east of Sankaty, with the folks from the Helen H fleet in Hyannis finding more than enough customers willing to make the trip to sample this outstanding fishery.
