Nantucket Fishing Report – August 17, 2017

Matt Manera from the Nantucket Tackle Center confirmed that the Bonito Bar down around Madaket “has been on fire.” Yo-zuri Crystal Minnows fished on an incoming tide are working really well. The bluefish action remains strong around the east side of the island, including Old Man Shoal; from shore, they key to locating them has been finding where the schools of sand eels are. Bass fishing remains pretty tough at this time of year, but they are being caught from some of the southside beaches by anglers who are willing to fish at night with Bombers and Daiwa SP Minnows. Finally, the fluke and black sea bass bite remains strong east of Sankaty; make sure to target moving water in about 25 to 30-feet
