Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds Fishing Report – October 30, 2015

Other than tautog, it looks like things are over for the season in Nantucket Sound. Even boaters who spend a fair amount of time up in the backwaters from Falmouth to Cotuit have called it quits. Waquoit Bay, one of the most dependable early and late season spots, has produced nothing but skunks lately and the same goes for Cotuit and Popponesset.

Bass River is one area that holds bass well into the fall, with some of them perhaps holdovers that hang around all year and hope to survive the winter. Some of the best action, if you can it since there certainly are no blitzes this time of year, is often found the closer you get up to Follins Pond.

Poking around Stage Harbor and Morris Island is also part of the late season routine for folks down Chatham way, but hunting and fishing for tuna is what gets most of their interest this time of year.
