Monomoy Fishing Report – September 7, 2017

Nobody has been fishing the rips this week, advised Andy Little at The Powderhorn in Hyannis, but before things got all stirred up, the bass fishing was really good. The amount of squid had really increased, making soft plastics and topwater plugs, as well as rip flies and squid patterns, very effective.

The west flats continue to fish well, with a mix of blues and bass in the shallows feeding on sand eels, crabs, and shrimp. Folks hitching a ride from Morris Island to the flats around North Monomoy and between the islands have continued to enjoy good early fall fishing, mainly on school bass, both with fly and light spin tackle.
