The albie action around the point on Wednesday and Thursday had to be called nothing less than epic. According to Bob Lewis, we’re talking about two to three hours of false albacore turning the water into a froth as they chowed on sand eels. While Bob did well with sand eel imitation Clousers on his fly rod, spin anglers found offerings such as Epoxy Jigs and metal jigs, along with smaller soft plastics such as the Skinny series, equally effective.
It might be that everybody is concentrating on albies, but there has been little or no talk about bass in the rips. Last year the state had no success finding bass during their tagging trips in September and October and it appears that may be the case again this year.
