Sam Bell has consistently been catching albies off the shore near Menemsha

Albies have surrounded the island, with both boat and shore anglers really getting into the action. Menemsha, Squibnocket, Vineyard Haven, State Beach, and Edgartown have all had fish, with all of the jetties in these areas the places to be when fishing from shore. The Hooter is still holding some bonito, but the bluefish have definitely been outnumbering them. Bass fishing is slow, with shore anglers picking up a few around Squibnocket at night on plugs, but with the Derby starting next Sunday, any catching is going to be kept very quiet. A commercial sea bass angler I spoke to earlier this week said he has been running into schools of bonito, albies, and bluefish on his way back in from Noman’s.
