Martha’s Vineyard Fishing Report – May 29, 2015

There are still plenty of schoolies around the island in all of the ponds and harbors, but Steve Morris explained there are also some larger bass being taken from the shore, including an 18-pounder. The bluefish bite at Wasque has been inconsistent; some days there are three to four-pounders, others the fish average eight to nine, and on others there is no bite at all. As far as boaters go, Steve acknowledged not many folks have their craft in the water; he did say that Doug Asselin went out with a friend this week and trolled up a couple of small blues, but nothing else.

The one really positive sign is the sea bass fishing; the wrecks off Oak Bluffs are filled with fish and it is not taking folks long to get their limit.
