Martha’s Vineyard Fishing Report – June 22, 2017

Steve Morris from Dick’s Bait & Tackle in Edgartown reported that there are both bass and blues at Wasque; although the stripers are the typical 26 to 30+-inch fish that you can find in most of the rips around the sounds, the action is certainly encouraging. There are bluefish at Chappy, but the water has been roiled at times due to the sand, which is not typically to the liking for blues. There are shore anglers picking at bass from Gay Head and along the north shore with plugs; darters are an island favorite, including Gibbs’, Salty’s, Tactical Anglers, and Super Strike and they are used pretty much all over the island. Sea bass fishing continues to be excellent, but fluke have been on the small side.
