Martha’s Vineyard Fishing Report – August 14, 2015

I heard this morning that folks were catching bonito both casting flies and trolling out at the Hooter; inshore, it’s been pretty quiet for bones, with a few off Tashmoo, but State Beach and Hedge Fence were basically ghost towns when we visited there today. There have some bluefish at Middle Ground and of course at the Hooter, but things are surprisingly quiet on blues from the beaches. The best shore bass fishing has been up island around Squibnocket and Gay Head, with night time the best with plugs and live eels. Folks trolling around Squibbie have also been picking up some bass in the 20-pound class and bonito as well.
