A First Look at the Town of Harwich Reef Project

Kudo’s to the team that put together the Town of Harwich reef project. There is a TON of debris there along with a lot of life already, even after 2 weeks. The drop zone is relatively small overall, but will no doubt add life to the area. Lots more to come on this, I marked a ton with Raymarine side vision and CHIRP downvision. The waypoints below were just some of the larger concentrations.

Using side vision I marked the larger debris piles upwards of 300 ft on either side of the boat.

Life already on the reef. Schools of baitfish, larger marks around the chunky stuff etc.

Gives you an idea of the layout. Chunks every 30-50 ft or so. They were nice enough to draw a big heart to mark the spot!

Salty Cape reader Phil Moore shared the coordinates of the reef drop zone.

Editors Note: Check back in for more on the Town of Harwich Reef project, as we’ll be profiling the area in our usual Salty Cape fashion some time this spring.
