Vertical jigs are an excellent way to target fish holding in deep water. They are effective on nearly all species of fish.
- Be absolutely sure to keep a tight line to the jig. Avoid slack.
- Use braid for best results – the combination of no stretch in the line and thin diameter let the jig get deeper and you’ll feel even the slightest hit.
- Use a sharp upward motion with the rod, then allow the jig to find bottom again. Hits may come on both the upward motion or as the jig drops. Remember: no slack in the line!
