Phil Stanton was good enough to provide a good report concerning the Elizabeths. He and his crew did very well the last couple of days pitching eels down around the islands, from Nashawena all the way back to Woods Hole. Phil mentioned that while the fish were big on Wednesday, they were also very skinny, with one fish that weighed 30-pounds easily long enough to be 40 to 45 if it was filled out the way one would expect. Yesterday, they repeated the same success, but this time the bass they caught were nice and fat as eels worked again and they also had bass up to 31-inches on the fly. Phil explained that they didn’t see any breaking fish at all, with only a couple of what looked like funny fish making one brief appearance.
Last Sunday, Phil said Woods Hole was filled with bass and bluefish making all kinds of noise, but he hasn’t seen them since then. There were also a few albies around, with at least one caught off the stone pier.
