Woods Hole has given up a few quality fish, such as a 30-pounder taken last weekend on a Pili Popper and Phil Stanton jigged up a 28-pound fish using a green parachute. Phil reported smaller fish pushing squid around the ledges, but he also was impressed that he had success vertical jigging in the deeper holes in the Hole and down around the Weepeckets. He didn’t think it would be effective given that these areas are not known for holding sand eels, but old school diamond jigs did the trick.
Overall, the water has been very cold down the islands, with no real action to report. Phil said he heard from Capt. John Christian that water temperatures were in the high 40’s around Quick’s Hole recently and Phil’s trips around Naushon and inside Robinson’s have been non-productive.
