There is no lack of schoolies in the Big Ditch at the moment, particularly from the west end to the herring run. Most of the shops in the area are reporting that the largest bass they have seen are around 31 to 32-inches.
Bruce Miller said there is a variety of bait around, including herring, some squid, mackerel, and some small baitfish he hasn’t been able to identify just yet.
Bucktail and white plastics have been working well, but some anglers are already using 1.5-ounce Gibbs’ Polaris.
The tautog bite is good at both ends of the Canal, with some winter flounder around the tanker cut.
