Buzzards Bay Fishing Report – July 23, 2015

Dick Hopwood was excited about some of the fluke he has been seeing at his dock, particularly because they are coming from around the Mashnee Flats and the edge of the Canal.

There are plenty of scup still around, but the sea bass have moved into deeper water.
The odds of picking up stripers into the 40+-inch range remains running through the Canal, jigging up some mackerel, and then returning to liveline them in the stretch between Hog and Mashnee Islands, the Onset rip, and the deeper holes around the west entrance. The early morning bite has definitely been best for tube-and-wormers, with red or black preferred in the deeper water on the edges of the Hog Island Channel.
