Buzzards Bay Fishing Report – August 13, 2015

Other than some good fluke fishing around Wing’s Neck and the old Canal markers, and on the edges of the Hog Island Channel, the bay is pretty slow. Mike Thomas reported that there are good numbers of three to five-pound bluefish in Wareham Bay and in the west entrance to the Canal; they are feeding on sand eels and will hit topwater plugs, but metal jigs are a more consistent producer.

Bass fishing has been tough towards the Cape side of the bay, with the best action from Marion over to Westport; eels have worked well along with the tube-and-worm.

No bonito have been reported yet, but there apparently has been a good bite off of Newport.
